Dr. Cyril C. DeSilva is a skilled neurosurgeon, specializing in the treatment of diseases and disorders of the central nervous system, including the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves and cerebrovascular system.

Dr. DeSilva received his undergraduate degree at Memorial University of Newfoundland (Canada), where he was awarded the University Medal for Academic Excellence. He also received his medical degree from the Memorial University of Newfoundland School of Medicine. He completed his residency at University of Western Ontario. During his residency he also earned his master’s degree in pathology; this study included the treatment of brain tumors at an in-depth level.
Dr. DeSilva is experienced in using the operating microscope to perform delicate procedures on the brain, spinal cord, and nerve roots. He uses the latest in 3-demensional imaging and computer technology, including a 3D CT scanner, to guide spinal fusion surgery in the operating room. He also offers artificial disc replacement as an alternative to traditional spinal fusion, also known as an ACDF.
During his education and training, Dr. DeSilva was exposed to all areas of Neurosurgery including spine, tumors, vascular, epilepsy, functional neurosurgery, pediatrics and trauma.
Memberships and Certifications:
Dr. DeSilva has obtained neurosurgery certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. He completed the Fellowship in Spine Surgery at the University of Western Ontario, which provided specialized training in orthopedic surgery of the spine; minimally invasive spine surgery; advanced techniques for spinal fusions; surgery for rheumatoid disease of the spine; and artificial cervical disc surgery.
